What are resin driveway borders?
Resin driveway borders are structural or decorative elements laid around the perimeter of a resin surface. They provide a clean edge, help manage drainage, and give the installation a defined finish.
Functionally, borders:
- Keep the resin bound gravel in place during and after installation
- Prevent edge crumbling or distortion, especially under tyre load
- Support proper levelling and drainage flow
- Separate resin zones from lawns, flower beds, or paving areas
Aesthetically, borders:
- Frame the surface for a neater, more finished look
- Provide contrast when using a complementary or bold colour blend
- Allow design personalisation, with options for patterns, shapes, or edging materials
Benefits of resin driveway borders
Incorporating a well-constructed border into your resin surface provides multiple long-term advantages:
- Structural integrity – Borders act as a physical restraint to the resin, increasing the lifespan of the installation
- Edge protection – Prevents cracking or erosion at the margins, especially from vehicle overrun
- Improved drainage – Borders help us get levels and gradients right to avoid standing water
- Visual enhancement – Creates clear lines, defined zones, and the option for custom colour play
They’re particularly useful for sloped driveways or large areas where movement, wear or water flow need to be managed.
Cost of resin driveway borders
The cost of resin driveway borders will depend on:
- Material type (block paving, cobblestones, key kerbs, or resin bonded paving)
- Number of metres required
- Border width (single or double row)
- Installation complexity (curves, slopes, junctions)
We include border options in all quotes and site surveys to ensure you know your choices from day one.
Colour combinations for resin driveway borders
A border is a great way to add contrast, tone, or subtle definition. We help you explore modern resin driveway colour options, including complementary edging styles that enhance kerb appeal while maintaining a cohesive overall finish.
Popular border pairings:
| Main Resin Surface | Border Material | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Light Grey | Charcoal Block Paving | Sharp modern contrast |
| Butterscotch | Golden Resin Blend | Natural, warm and cohesive |
| Jet Black | Silver Resin Edge | Contemporary and dramatic |
| Mixed Blend | Buff Block Paving | Soft border to anchor the design |
All combinations are reviewed with you on-site, using real samples in natural light.
